Yahoo Discontinuing Alta Vista and Other 11 Products!



The Most Important Search Engine of  Pre-Google era- Alta Vista going to shutdown on July 8,2013.
Jay Rossiter,Executive Vice President of Yahoo Said that,they are going to Discontinue some of their Products to Focus on “Creating Beautiful Products” For Users.

As AltaVista is being Shut Down On July 8, Yahoo Advised to Users to Use yahoo! Search for all Needs of Searching.

With Discontinuing of Alta Vista,Yahoo Prepared List of Discontinuing Products However Some of Applications are Already Shut off.

Products Discontinued:

Yahoo! Axis (June 28)
Yahoo! Browser Plus (June 28)
Citizen Sports (June 28) : You may get latest Sport News Updates On Yahoo! Sports.
Yahoo! WebPlayer (June 30) : No more Video playback Where Web Player is used by Publishers.

Will be Discontinued:

FoxyTunes (July 1), You may get latest music on Yahoo! Music

Yahoo! RSS Alerts (July 1),To Continue Receiving Alerts go to Yahoo! Alerts

Yahoo! Neighbors Beta (July 8), Yahoo! Local Search will be Alternative to it.

Yahoo! Stars India (July 25), Join Yahoo! India OMG! to stay updated with all your Favourite Celebrity News.

Yahoo! Downloads Beta (July 31): Yahoo! Downloads will no longer support 3rd party downloads but will continue to offer downloads of Yahoo! products like Yahoo! Toolbar or Messenger.

Yahoo! Local API (September 28): As part of this big shutdown, all Yahoo! Local API documentation will also be removed from the Yahoo! Developer Network portal.
