After reviewing Samsung’s latest Smartphone i.e, Galaxy Grand 2, We have got hands on the most famous android phone, Moto G from Motorola where we used it for many days, tested it thoroughly and then written Moto G Full Review with Antutu & Other benchmarks. Recently, Motorola said that further details about launching in India will be announced on 5th February 2014 and so many people are still waiting for this awesome device. Moto G Smartphone was announced as a budget power Smartphone which aimed to provide mid-range specifications to users at a really cheap price and Moto G actually does this!

What’s inside the box?

External & Screen:
Black colored Moto G looks awesome with a sleek, slim and curved back which is terribly thin. 4.5 inch screen is smaller in size, but hence it’s easy to use one-handed not like other big screen phones! On the front of device, there are no soft keys like we saw on other phones where softkeys will show upon unlocking the screen. There is a 1.3 MP front camera for making out video calls and 5 MP rear camera as Primary photo purpose. There are 2 keys on its right as, Power/Unlock key and Volume buttons and there is plain surface on its left though.
Because of 4.5 inches 720p screen, all things are visible in ultra-sharp quality which is having about 329 pixels per inch(ppi) running on an IPS display. You will get micro-USB charging at the base of the device.
Internals| OS | Camera:
Out of the box, it is running on Android v4. 3 but main impressive thing is that we got immediate Android v4.4.2 Kitkat update which is the latest version of Android which is mostly battery efficient and ultra-fast in performance. The whole design of internal OS looks like stock android, but still some customizations we saw in it but they are quite impressive though. Running on Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, it is ultra-fast in performance and Adreno 305 GPU is too good for gaming and entertainment purposes.
Even though the primary camera is of 5 MP and 1.3 MP on its front, quality of images and videos are too better than others who having same camera specs. There are many modes of the camera included such as:
- Panorama and etc
Camera is the main feature we disliked from Motorola as they may provide atleast 8 MP camera in the rear but still they provided 5 MP where other phones under such prices are getting 8 MP of camera on its rear!
The calling and voice quality is also excellent and giving options of higher volume with loudspeaker too. You will get some Moto Apps such as Assist, Gallery, Migrate and etc which are very helpful. There are some help and connect apps provided with which you may directly post your query in that session where you will get help from Official Moto Employee.
Storage & Connectivity:
At such low price and such excellent quality, we have two versions available such as: 8 GB and 16 GB on-board storage and surprisingly there is no micro-SD card slot as like Nexus devices it clearly indicates that you needed to use cloud-storage most of the times. Before you buy any Moto G, think about your usage and so choose your preferred version.
Connectivity options are same as other phones which are under this category, but here we have a USB-host i.e, USB On-the-go feature which most of the other phone manufacturers don’t give in their Smartphones. The latest version of Bluetooth is integrated i.e, BT v4. 0 with EE and with WI-Fi Connectivity too. Moto G is a 3G Smartphone supporting HSDPA at 21 Mbps speed.
- Antutu: 17049
- Nenamark: 58.8 fps
- Quadrant: 5716
Battery & Other Features:
Motorola has done some ‘nano’ layer which will make the phone water-resistant up to certain limits. The main thing we observed that, the battery is sealed inside the device itself, giving option of only changing SIM card! But this sealing of battery is like advantage for phone as this design keeps any power connections away from water and that’s what we say as “mild water resistant”.
Battery backup of Moto G is really best compared to its size of battery. If you see screenshots carefully, you will get an idea about how we utilize our phone and how it performed. You will get approx. 1d 13h 18m battery backup after charging fully.
Even though the battery is sealed in the device itself, we may try different back covers from 19 different colored back panels which makes quite an impressive look of the device, but changing of covers is fun for some days and after then you will prefer black color as it suits it more but it’s up to you whether to have black, orange, pink or any other available shades.
What things are not available on Moto G:
- No 4G
- No NFC Support
- No MicroSD memory card slot
- No Support for Screen Mirroring
But still with this price tag we won’t hope for these many features and all other features of Moto G are rocking and kicking off other Smartphones available currently.
As per our survey on Smartphones, we will say that Moto G is one of the best phone between $260-$285 for 16 GB price tag and also there are new google play edition phones available such as: 8GB for $179 and 16GB for $199 in Playstore. If you are a Nexus user then you won’t feel anything new on this device as Nexus devices are running on Latest Android OS + More Hardware.
Officially Moto G is not yet launched in India, but you may order it from eBay or any other online shopping carts where you will see some minor price difference. If you are looking for low-cost and stylish power-packed Smartphone then just go and grab a Moto G right now!!!
The Moto G we used to review was running on Android v4.4.2 KitKat and it belongs to one of my friends Rajas Purohit who loves to try new gadgets where he is holding Google’s Nexus tab too.
