Driver Assistance Systems
One of the most impressive additions to the new Audi A3 is the new driver assistance system. Driving around is even safer with further improvements to Audi’s previous system including better lane assist and pre-sense front-braking for predictive pedestrian protection.
New to the driver assistance system is the traffic jam feature that goes hand in hand with the cruise control and “Stop & Go” features. This will help keep your car at a safe distance from vehicles ahead of you. In slow traffic up to 40 mph, the traffic jam assist will even take over the steering for you. Emergency assist will initiate the brakes for a safe stop even if you’re not steering the car.
Taking dashboard-technology to the next level, the new Audi A3 now has a virtual cockpit. On a 12.3 inch diagonal TFT screen, you can see all the driver’s relevant and important information in high-definition. There are two view modes: classic and infotainment. The classic mode displays info in large-font format. With infotainment mode there is a screen overlay, giving you a bit more room to view other functions like the navigation, telephone, and radio controls – all of which can be accessed from your steering wheel.
Upgraded Engine Parts
If it’s power you’re after, then you’re going to be ecstatic with the engine parts upgrades in the new Audi A3. There are six engine choices – three gasoline and three diesel. Output ranges from 110hp to 190hp. For those who might want to hit the race track, there are advanced Audi aftermarket parts available, such as a data logging system, that help keep track of how fast you’re getting around that racetrack along with other insightful metrics about your car’s performance.
Audi’s base model is more than capable for the everyday driver, let’s take a look at specs.
The 1.0 TFSI, is a three-cylinder model offered for the first time in Audi’s A3 series. The small engine has outputs of 115hp and 147.5 lb-ft. of torque.
The 1.4 TFSI COD-ultra has “Cylinder-on-Demand” technology. This engine has outputs of 150hp and 184.4 lb.-ft. of torque.
The new 2.0 TFSI is said to have an innovative combustion process. It clocks in with 190hp and 236.0 lb-ft of torque.
There is also a four-cylinder TDI engine available with two performance options. The 2.0 TDI engine outputs 150hp and 250.8 lb-ft torque.
The entry level diesel engine is the 1.6 TDI with an output of 110hp. This engine comes with either a six-speed manual transmission or one equipped with the S tronic seven-speed dual-clutch transmission parts. The 2.0 diesel engines come with newly designed seven-speed S tronic wet clutch parts boasting an output of 190hp.
Newly Designed Exterior Body
While the overall size hasn’t changed much, the new Audi A3 is said to look a lot sportier than past models with a full body redesign. Flatter headlights with distinctive outer contours and a single-frame grille accent the front of the car. There are horizontal-illuminated graphics for the rear lights with a newly designed diffuser. The new A3 also comes with an array of exterior colors to choose from including Nano gray, Tango red, Ara blue, Cosmic blue, and Vegas yellow.
So there you have it. The new line of Audi A3 is said to be tricked out with some of the best technology and cutting-edge parts the auto world has to offer. Audi also has plenty of styles, colors, and engines-types for you to choose from. It’s safe to say that Audi will continue as a force to be reckoned with in the years to come while they integrate even more technology, power and creativity to their already-popular brand.
